Celebrating Life and Family

Mike Langeland

Funeral Services

I am Mike Langeland, a fifth generation funeral director from Langeland/Sterenberg & Yntema Funeral Homes in the greater Holland, Zeeland, and Hamilton area. I grew up in Zeeland and graduated from Holland Christian High School, Calvin College, Grand Valley State University, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. I have been a licensed funeral director since 1995, and have been part of leadership since 2004.

My most important accomplishments come not from the professional realm. Faith, family, and friendships are my first priorities and they define my professional philosophy, demeanor, and goals. That is my own life legacy.

As a professional, I have spent my adult life in service to families experiencing death and loss. The loss of a family member or close friend is a life-changing experience. That  experience is often profoundly overwhelming and chaotic as people’s dreams and plans are dashed in an instant. Our professional calling is to bring order to that chaos and foster experiences for survivors that put them on a pathway to healing.

People want their lives to mean something and matter. They want to know that what they have done made a difference to the people they love and leave behind. Reflecting upon and preparing for one’s life legacy for many may include planning for their own death, memorialization and the impact of that loss on their family.

Our funeral homes are dedicated to helping people define their needs and create a plan that helps and serves their family and engages all those experiencing the loss. We also believe that it is better to plan for these experiences together versus alone and to plan for things minus the pain and stress that occurs in the midst of immediate death and loss.
